Exploring the Map and Places
Overview
Use Explore to find outdoor places in the selected OuterSpatial community. Explore can show places on a map or in a list, including areas, trails, points of interest, outings, and other published places.
Switch Between Map and List
Open the Explore tab. Use the map/list button near the search bar to switch views.
The map view is useful for seeing where places are located. The list view is useful for scanning names and sorting nearby places.
Search
Tap Search this community... to search within the selected community. Search can help you find places by name and can open a selected result on the map.
If you search for coordinates or a location result, Explore can center the map around that location.
Filter Places
Use the filter row to narrow Explore results. Available filters depend on the selected community and the places it publishes.
Filters can include place type, activity, accessibility, or other community-specific options. Use reset filters when you want to return to the full Explore list.
Sort the List
In list view, sort places alphabetically or by distance when location access is available. If location access is not available, Explore uses alphabetical sorting.
Open a Place
Tap a place from the map or list to open its details. Place pages can include descriptions, maps, photos, events, challenges, articles, alerts, paper maps, and social content depending on what the organization has published.
Map Options
On supported maps, open Map Options to change the map type or map details. Standard and Satellite map types may be available. Some places also include activity maps or paper maps published by the organization.
Location Access
Location access helps OuterSpatial sort nearby places, show your position on the map, and support location-based features. You can still browse published places without location access, but distance and current-location features may be limited.
